Tony Awards

It was the 60th Annual Tony Awards this year and they had a bajillion celebrities on hand to present.  I was working in the presenter's gift lounge again this year and I was in charge of the celebrities signing a painting for charity (Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS).  Yes, I met, shook hands with and talked with Juila Roberts - she hopes I have "a wonderful wedding."  Here's a list of some of the people that I got to meet (some are repeats from last year):

Lauren Ambrose, Julie Andrews, Hank Azaria, Kristen Bell, Norbert Leo Butz, Victoria Clark, Glenn Close, Jim Dale, Christine Ebersole, Harvey Fierstein, Ana Gasteyer (who I also sat next to at an audition several weeks before), Joanna Gleason, Marcia Gay Harden, Neil Patrick Harris, Hal Holbrook, Bill Irwin, James Earl Jones (we bonded), T.R. Knight, Josh Lucas, Julianna Margulies, Audra McDonald, Michael McKean, S. Epatha Merkerson, Brian Stokes Mitchell, James Naughton, Patricia Neal, Bebe Neuwirth, Cynthia Nixon, Anna Paquin, Rosie Perez, Joe Pesci, Bernadette Peters, David Hyde Pierce, Oliver Platt, Jonathan Pryce, Sara Ramirez, Molly Ringwald, Chita Rivera, Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Kyra Sedgwick, Paul Shaffer, Tom Skerritt, John Tartaglia, Stanley Tucci, Alfre Woodard

I didn't get to see/meet Oprah. I was in the green room throughout the show and she never came back there - but the rest of the escorts saw her and they report that she is "very little."  Who knew?

The next night I went to the opening night of VDay - Eve Ensler's movement to stop violence against women.  It was a reading of her new work, "Necessary Targets." The play is profoundly moving and was wonderfully executed by the work of Jane Fonda, Kerry Washington, Kathy Bates, Marcia Gay Harden, Shiva Rose, Marian Seldes and Emma Myles.
