Welcome back! I'm saying that mostly to myself....its been almost a year since I wrote in this blog, mostly because my website was not much to look at and I didn't want to encourage anyone to look at it. But that has all changed now, thanks to the awesome Kyle Walters. He has taken on the task of actually designing my website - no more cheesy, self-made ones here. And since he's done such an amazing job, I'm going to spread the word and have everyone check it out. Hence, the new blog.
A lot has happened in the past year, but I'd have to really sit down and look at my old calendars to remember it all. Its hard to remember what I did last week, let alone last year. I shot an Olive Garden commercial last October (I think it was in October...) and it still hasn't started airing yet - but I have a feeling it could be soon. I play the server in the spot and...wait for it...I have lines! Oh, the things that bring you joy in this business. I started working with Bob Krakower whenever he stops into town and teaches at One on One. Working with him really opened my eyes and changed the way I approach my acting. He helped put the fun back into it. I mean, sure, being in commercials is fun and it pays well, but its just smiling and looking pretty. The perils of pretty are many in this biz. I have definitely grown as an actress because of him. I'm working with him again next week and I'm excited for a much needed boost in my outlook on acting. This business has been slow and frustrating lately and I need a class to remind me how much I love to act and why, after FIVE years, I'm still here, truckin' along.
The most exciting thing that has happened since I last wrote is not business related at all. I married my Prince Charming, Dan, last month! We are two lucky kids, enjoying our newlywed status. We had an absolutely perfect wedding down in Florida and then went to Jamaica for our honeymoon. Our photographer was absolutely amazing and you have to see the pictures to understand. Her website is www.lindseypotter.com and she has a lot of photos from our wedding on there or you can check out the slideshow she made for us at: http://www.lindseypotter.com/darkroom/share/?client/MEAGANandDAN
I can't stop bragging about Lindsey because she really captured the spirit and moment of the day and created beautiful images that tell a story. It is like flipping through a magazine or watching a movie.
So acting got put on a back burner to my marriage and I wouldn't have it any other way. I planned the wedding down to every detail and everyone had such a fun time, I couldn't be happier. I'm having wedding planning withdrawal though...I never thought I'd be like that, but I really had fun looking at all the wedding magazines and websites - it was creative and fun and I'm looking forward to whomever of my friends gets hitched next so I can live vicariously...
I'm going to try to be more blogtastic now that my site is awesome, so stay tuned for future "offscreen" entries. A lot of exciting things are happening in the next week - I shoot Revolutionary Road on Monday and will hopefully have fun Leo stories for you. I work the Tony Awards again next Sunday, and you never know what can happen there, and then Broadway Bares is the following week, which always serves up some raucous fun.
Until next time...keep shooting the moon!
